Remember that wonderful weather we had last week? One day Richard and I went to the river for a relaxing day of boating and floating...we had lunch on the river bank...
Lots of sand up on what we call Johnson Island...Not sure what people these days call it, or if they are even aware it's an island. It is by what we call Terry Chutes, which by the way people on the other side of the river called Allen Chutes back in the day.
Big spider near some driftwood.
Neat rocks we found...the item in front is the top of an old soda bottle that has been smoothed by being in the water
We picked this up against a drift up in Henderson Eddy....it was partially inflated, but other parts were too damaged to be repaired, so loaded it up to throw it away.
See the eagle in the tree? this is at Thox Rock..
Here it is!

It was such a beautiful fall-like day! We had a good time!

Oh what a beautiful time last week to go to the river! And that chicken leg with pickles just almost jumped out at me! Looked yummy.
The eagle picture is a keeper! Terry Chutes was the "scary" area of the river when I was a kid -- we just knew when our dad took us thru there in the boat, no horsing around - well, those days we didn't ever have life jackets and we were little. It's a wonder we all made it!
Happy fall! Karen
oh yes, I do remember when Terry chutes was dangerous...so must have been that way for quite some time. Like you said, no fooling around there! So narrow, many logs, swift and deep. Happy fall to you too!
