We were down at the cabin a couple nights ago...tying up the picnic tables, just in case. More high water coming, supposed to get just above flood stage, which wouldn't get to where the tables are, but you just never know.....I found this huge spider in the potty house......I am guessing the body on it was like three inches long!
Molly was able to find some rocks to carry up from the river.....she scatters them about the yard.
The picture doesn't show it, but the far side of the river was already brown from the Spring Creek water. It's up high today, so no river this Fourth of July!

That Molly cracks me up carrying those rocks. It's kind of like, "I don't really get much pleasure in picking up these rocks but somebody has to do it." Animals are so humorous. On the 4th of July (was that just yesterday?!!) Kitty got tired of the fireworks and came in to a little oblong basket that was sitting on our den ottoman -- crawled in it and not enough room to slide a dime in with his body. Went fast asleep and I guess felt safe from the fireworks in that little space. It was funny.
I remember Jacob or maybe Gregg mentioning how many years it was since the gates were open at the dam...it was a long time ago but can't remember. Bill seems to think he read it was the 1950s.
Our Ft. Wood kids left today from our house for their new home and Gregg's new assignment as a teacher at the Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, PA. Bittersweet but I can't be too sad because this was what they all wanted so much and so they were happy driving off....looked like a caravan! Jake, Daniel, and dog Stella were with us all week just to get them out of the house while movers were there -- especially the dog. Sam had a job at FLW so he stayed back. And, we had outdoor high up painting for Jacob, porch railings for Daniel to do plus various other odd jobs. Then the whole family plus Gma Judy from Omaha & Sam's girlfriend spent the weekend. Fun and busy!
