Looks Like Spring

These two pictures just say Spring!  My brother-in-law found a bunch of red mushrooms, this is only part of them...he is good to share with us!

Redbuds are blooming also....seem a little sparse this year, but it's still early.  Sure enjoy seeing them brighten up the scenery!

Tulips at the River

Our neighbor at the river likes to "cityfy" the place. She planted these beautiful red tulips....soo pretty!  She also planted Hostas, which got majorly damaged by that last freeze we had...hope she gets down there to enjoy these!

Wildflower Wednesday

I took these pictures on Sunday down at the cabin. Lots of  Dutchmen's Breeches up in the woods.

Lots of other flowers blooming also!

Such an interesting time of year, with all the different flowers blooming!  Have also heard lots of peepers and understand the mushrooms are starting to pop!

Tyler Time

We picked up Tyler from school a couple days last week and spent some extra time with him....we walked over to school and took this picture of the old town mill..note the daffodils that have naturalized nearby. One day we'll walk clear over there with him, but he had his school clothes on this day.

He was excited to explore inside the greenhouse...it has lots of plants in it!

He really liked these aloe plants and asked that I take his picture by them!

Here is some really big aloe plants, they are even blooming!

Frog on a cattle panel over by the freezer shed...he just sat there and let us study on him!
It was fun to spend some extra time with Tyler! Hope to do more of that this Summer!

Spring Flowers

Have some of these pretty flowers both in our yard and the Mae Yard. Often times they don't bloom much if at all, but it is a good year for them this year..

Also have some of this bush in both yards, this one is in our yard. Got a start from this on the curve up by the hat factory where the city and people in general used to dump fill, limbs and other yard debris. My Mom and I spotted some of this sprouting out of an old stump up there one Spring, and that is how it got to be in our yard!

9/11

I saw this plane the other day doing a big turn in the sky...it reminded me of 9/11.  Still remember how odd it was to walk to/from school a couple of those September days and not seeing a single contrail in the sky.

Watt Pottery

I cleaned the Watt Pottery earlier this week....Sure like these pieces. So far I haven't found a super good way to display them, and I need to work on that! This one is a spaghetti bowl...

this one is a large platter type thing

Probably the size of a large dinner plate.
Supposed to be Shawnee Pottery...bought by my paternal grandparents in West Virginia early in 1954. Very nice pieces and one of my favorites. They have Watt Pottery on their backs along with a number.

Fantasia

Cloud bank coming in from the Southwest about dark this evening.....Reminds me of a piece in Disney's Fantasia..Only I think that was the beginning of night, not a cloud bank..awesome movie by the way!

Last Day of Winter

We took a drive out in the West part of the county today...the last day of Winter.  Love the old buildings. Have to wonder why/how/when these houses stop being used. Looked like a beautiful view from this one. Always wonder too about the people that lived in them..their troubles and joys and if they enjoyed watching the sunrises....all things about their lives. Would love to go walking around these old buildings, and even inside them!
