Mill Creek

We did  a little something different with the big kids one day this Summer...took them down to Mill Creek.  they enjoyed it a lot and were amazed at how cold the Spring water was.....here they are crossing the low water slab

River Dog

Fun times with the kids!

One time this Summr when we put the boat in the kids there was a stray dog at the cabin...believe it came from some other people upriver....Emily was not a fan! haha

Fuzzy because I was laughing too hard to take the picture   When we drove up the cabin that day it was laying in the sandbox..with a cat!  ha   the cat ran off but the dog stayed around for the day.

 

Day on the River

These pictures are from earlier this Summer  We took the two "big kids" to the river oneday.  Emily brought her fave pet along    "Howler" haha  she even had a life vest for it!

Tyler is getting so tall!  By this time next year he will probably be taller than me!

Mother's Day

We had a nice time on Mother's Day....nice meal with the family and good times for sure!  I got some  handmade crafts...the flower pots and handprint picture are so cute! Still on the front table...some choclates, two  gift certificates to the local Mexican  restaurant, a nice card too

also this geranium hanging basket, in almost a fushia color and  a big white lilac bush!  I sure like lilacs  and didn't have a white one. We found the perfect place to put it and have it planted! Will enjoy for years!

Sure am grateful for my family and all they do for me.   It was a good day!

All the Pretty Colors

I have a net ball scrubbie project on going..this picture shows some of the net colors I am using.  It is fun to match up what colors you want together!

Valentine craft from the Grandkids!  Love how special they are! Mom is so good to make crafts for the kids to give us! love them!

Play Day

Pictures from a couple weeks ago, one of the days we had a couple of the kids over to play. Emily used playdoh to make food for her baby....green peas, yellow pancakes w/pink chips...and right now I can't remember what the third things were.

We bought a couple of these old school balsa airplanes for them to play with...they had a lot of fun with these....they are pretty fragile, so got put up afterwards and will play with them again.

We had a good time with the kids!

More Catching Up

Emily earlier in the Summer...had out the totes of Happy Meal Barbies...would line them up and knock them down!

The twins had fun playing on the atv...no doubt imaging some fun adventures.

Finished my grapevine tree a week ago. not real happy with the top, but it'll be alright, at least for now.

More atv fun!  they got these paper bags out of their van and a couple of them went around collecting things from the yard....hickory nuts, seed pods, etc.  fun activity.

Groundhog that terrorized our garden a good part of the Summer....even chewing up gourds and pumpkins.

I had a clock/radio thing that quit working last June and I opened it up so Tyler could see what all was in there....Ha! He had fun seeing the insides of it!

Rush hour in Birmingham  late in June.....as bad as this was it got worse due to an accident was ahead of this.

Summer on the River

Every Summer there just seems to be never enough time to spend on the river with the Grandkids....this year seemed more that way than usual.  Seems like the Summer just slipped by without taking advantage of all it had to offer.  We will still go out some this Fall, but never as much as we think...our attention turns to other things and life just goes on.  Here is Emily on a sandbar upriver

Tyler got so much better at his swimming this year...they both did, but he really was improved.  Next year I will take them to swim lessons again.  That was so much fun last year and they'll learn even more.

Wednesday

I had Emily today, just because I can, and we had a super-good day!  here she is playing with Polly Pockets from the 90's.  She sure is having fun with them!

We also took Tyler to/from school, since they didn't have bus service today.  He was wanting a snack and decided on pancakes...I made him a BIG pancake!  He ate it all and I told Sarah he probably won't each much supper! Ha!  We sure had a good time with both of them!

Monday

Had fun yesterday with Tyler and Emily. He was off school due to a teachers' meeting, so we took advantage of that to have a play day.  Here he was having fun with Legos and She was playing with Barbie things I had cleaned up from the dungeon this weekend. Will have more on that later.

Mute Monday

It

It was so cold New Year's Eve.  When it is that cold a small circle of moisture appears on our glass door.  Tyler had drawn a T and was in the process of writing an E for Emily when someone got onto him for messing with the door.....the end result was this creepy IT  like the movie! Ha!  This picture was taken the next morning..will clean it off in a day or two, but it is worth a laugh for now!

Not sure if I put this on here yet or not, a notepad that I used the last page out of this year.....20 sheets for two dollars...the date on it is in Roman Numerals, made in 1982. Ha!  The year after we got married!  Been around a while!

Bacon Ornament

I have used this ornament for a few years...at one point Tyler questioned what it was and I told him it was a replica of an old-fashioned candy...he has decided it is a replica of bacon and this year the first thing he did when he saw the tree was to search for the bacon ornament! Haha!

Richard worked with the firewood this week and brought home this neat nest for the tree...I was careful put it away from the lights...I love it! So cute!

and then he found another one! 

I came home from somewhere the other day and this red acorn was laying in the floor...it had come unglued from it's cap....upon further investigation I discovered on the back it tiny print it has '91 and someone's initials. I knew it came from a craft show....so after 26 years it should be no surprise it came apart...I am fixing it today!
