Cabin Things

During the flood, I prematurely mourned the loss of this picture, and it's partner picture.  This had floated off it's nail and was on top of other items that had floated into the porch area near the door. I was so surprised it wasn't destroyed It had come apart where it met the frame and was an easy fix. It's companion piece was just  a tad higher on the wall and stayed put. I was always fond of these pieces and studied on them when I was a kid

These didn't get in the flood, but I brought things like this home to sort and get out of the way out there..old cars that look well-loved.  Some are from the 60's and made in England

I like the Rice Krispie one!

I brought in these canisters too..may find a use for them here

FEMA

There were a few of these signs around town last week

These people were in town

They parked their machine at the courthouse for several days to assist people after the flood.

Doesn't it look like the front of the vehicle is smiling?

Ben and Jack

We took care of the twins one day last week while their Mom took the older two for check-ups.We had a good day!  I didn't take any pictures until it was almost time to go home. Jack is being thoughtful here...

Ben was liking getting his picture taken

This was them when they realized their Mom had pulled in the driveway!

They were pretty excited!

We had a good day with them!

I was along on a survey job last week and saw this neat windmill. Windmills are pretty neat and they had it fixed up really nice...

there was also a neat pile of old bricks nearby

and a heavy-duty frame for a swing

Farther up the River

Took a little road trip today....went to a couple conservation accesses farther up the river..This is Riddle Bridge..love the pretty bluff! Guess I didn't actually get a picture of the bridge.  Right past this we did see where a whole house was gone...washed away..

This is the road leading to the Jerome Access. Gated off/closed due to such damage.

potty house looks funny way over there! lots of fill needed to put this back the way it was.

This access was also heavily damaged in a past flood

Repairs have yet to begin on this...but they have started on the power line you can see in the background...no wires there now and some poles missing as well..

some one used to cook Sunday dinner on this stove!

trees bent over nearly flat

little picket fence from someone's yard. we saw several pieces of various thing in the area

road was pretty washed out

It was an interesting drive!

Flood Book

Thanks to Sarah and Richard most of the books were in a safe place....a few fell off the bunk bed..this one  had some mud on it

and some inside..mostly not too bad though

a few pages looked like this

but with some care cleaned up pretty good!  I still have some work to do on the book. it's an older book and I like the illustrations.
