More from Mae House

Here are two items I got out of the Mae House  lately.   A painting of poppies in a shabby chic  white frame  Will hang this by the front door in a few weeks.

A paint-by-number I did as a kid....this was upstairs in the Mae House.   

 It is in surprisingly  good shape considering it's age and where it spent the last 15 or so years!

Gifts from the Mae House

I brought this over from the Mae House today....It has hung in there on the wall  since our girls played with it.   Still has the rock attached they  put there to act as an anchor. I can't wait to see how the Grandkids like this boat!  I think they are going to really like it....it's a big one!

Green Glass

I worked in the Mae house again today....trying to organize and generally make things better in there...there have been two boxes sitting in the corner by the stairs for, well, for years I suppose. Today I decided to take them out onto the porch and open them up.  This post-it was on the smaller box.   I recognized my Aunt Dixie's handwriting...

and this was on the medium sized box....I remembered this canister set that my Grandma Frieda had, so I knew what was in the box then.

My aunt had packed everything so good! you could have shipped this box anywhere and no harm would have come to the contents!

a salt/pepper shaker..wrapped in bubble wrap, top secured by a rubber band, then wrapped in tissue

this is what was in the box marked "green glass" aren't they pretty?

I went ahead and unpacked the canister set too...this was the last  item in there..small and wrapped well..maybe a toothpick holder?

and here they are!  So pretty! and just as clean as the day they were packed up....

Mae House Finds

Not sure if I have had some of this on here before...possibly have, but I came across it in a closed area last week, so it's all new to me! Ha! razor blade packs, avon bottles, etc

extra random stuff!

Looks like someone used a picture out of a magazine to use for a decoration..

Tucker's Dairy from Rolla....was apparently used to freeze a rabbit at some point!

a fork and spoon? a spool of thread? 35 cent razor blades ..oh, and  a razor!

avon bottles...the one that looks like cut glass has never been opened..suppose I could clean it out and use it for something....

on my way back to our house, I found a penny in the yard....quite corroded, but I could tell it was a wheat penny and although I can't be certain, appears to be from 1956!

Puzzles and More

I did this puzzle last week!

And this one this week!  On both of these we took out about a dozen pieces when Tyler came down so he could help finish them! He thought that was neat!

This was taken a while back...temps were below freezing, but the snow on the roof was melting due to the sun....it was cold enough that it was making some sort of mist...this went on for a couple of days...

Hand pump out of the Mae House...Right now it's in front of the bay window....will have to figure out a way/place to display it!

Sarah and the kids came by Friday after work...Here is sweet Emily with her little cat hat on, ready to go home...She is just the sweetest little girl!

Mae House Surprise

The other day when we happened to have just a short period of decent, sunny weather, I went over to the Mae Yard to clip around on some bushes.....I found this in the leaves. You would think we would have come across this by now! Not that it's a big treasure, but sure thought we had found all there was to find...

Another Borrowed Camera

Here is where I go sometimes to be "unplugged".......away from the computer and the phone.....the Mae Porch.....It was warm one day last week when I sat over there and this time of year the sun shines on the porch...very relaxing!

Hickory leaves that all fell in about 12 hours...these pictures were taken with another borrowed camera.

It had a really good zoom on it....I was standing in front of the Mae House when I took this picture of our deck!

Little shelf in our living room. I actually dusted this shelf the other day!

Totally Random Items

I have been into cloth napkins here lately....I was switching out the Summer colors for the Fall colors today and decided to take a picture...Some of these were given to me, some I bought at our church's yard sales. I like using them and don't mind washing them and hanging them on the line...Hanging things on the line are one of my favorite activities! Yes, it really is! ha!

Our town recently had some city-wide yard sales...other than buying some clothes for the Grandkids, I didn't buy much...I did find this pair of red glass salt/pepper shakers. I plan to put them in the window this Winter for a touch of color...

Oh, sure didn't need these items, but you know how that goes! Two Frankoma pitchers...those will look nice with some pampas grass or dried grasses in them....and the other items appears to maybe be a candy dish...made of glass and what appears to be hammered aluminum.

Seasonal display on the front table..the larger ghost I also bought at a yard sale for a dime!

Bar of silver...when we bought the Mae house we were nosing around one day and I pulled a newspaper off a closet shelf to see what date the paper was from....much to my surprise out fell this bar of silver! We were majorly surprised! Too bad we never found any more!

And in keeping with the theme of totally random items...here is an old hard plastic toy dog from the dungeon....he looks very stern!

Saturday Morning Pictures

Just some random pictures I took early this morning when I was walking around outside..First off is a bloom of a volunteer plant...sprouted up by our birdbath...I think it is some sort of gourd...

Wednesday Photo Dump

I wish I had taken a "before" picture of this wreath...it was very tired with all it's decorations very faded so I revived it with some flowers/leaves I had leftover from Sarah's wedding. I thought it turned out ok!

Never know what you are going to find hanging around on the Mae Porch. Yes, it's a scary place!

I found this vintage chenille baby blanket when I was mining in the dungeon the other day....washed it up and it's in pretty nice shape considering how old it probably is....nice and lightweight and a good size for Miss Emily!

Rabbit/flowers detail..

Was looking for something to take pictures of the other day and came across these wild grapes growing on the freezer shed....such interesting vines...neat contrasts between the vines, leaves and the fruit...

It would take a  lot of these to make something....lots of seeds in the fruit..
