Dungeon Days

I found this avon candleholder/candle in the dungeon the other day.....I am connecting this
to my Aunt Dixie ...I believe she gave this to us..It just says the late 60's or 70's, doesn't it?
Groovy!.....and it is in pristine condition!
Found this in a random box in the dungeon....from Nebraska.
Pretty sure this came from my Nebraska grandparents....Pop always liked "Ozark" things...in case
you can't tell, this is an outhouse....made of copper...the roof is even copper.
I suspect this also came from there, since they ran a dairy...at any rate I like it and was surprised to see
I had put stuff inside it..
Really random stuff...two rabbit candles...a doily thing, and a candle someone scratched
the silver off of....
Random things I found in a box....a couple vintage things and a couple things our kids had.
Back on the far end of a shelf I found this little vegetable holder.
One of my many horse items....I really liked horses.  This is made of some sort of
ceramic material and it marked Japan on the back.
I have some more dungeon pictures that I will be putting on this week....never know what you are going to come across down there!

An Eagle and a Lion

Wednesday afternoon was so nice that we went down to the cabin to check
on things...About the time we were getting ready to leave we saw this eagle flying
around above the river. Richard took this picture of it when it landed on a tree
across the river.  We were standing on the middle of the deck.
This clock was a wedding gift to us from friends...We displayed it in our house for many
years and then Richard had it in his office for many years...Since he is retired now, he
took it to his Lion's Club meeting Tuesday night to ask if he could hang it up in the Lion's
building.....It sure has been a good clock!

More Osage County

I always thought painted signs on brick buildings were pretty cool!
Higher up on the building there were also several of these stars..also cool!
House dating to 1879!
Not sure I would park around this building! Looks like it could collapse!
And it truly was on a hill!
This church was pretty, but this isn't a very good picture of it...
Buffalo herd.
Nuclear plant on the horizon
snowy road coming out of the conservation lake area.
There was a real pretty little country church by this graveyard, but I didn't get a picture
of it. I may have to start getting out of the truck/car to take pictures!
I did get a picture of the door knob! woo hoo!
This was a neat place and I truly should have tried to take more pictures here...
Love the chippy red and that window!

Mint Hill Community Church

We read about a church in Osage County that was going to be taken down sometime
this month, so we decided to go have a look at it on Sunday.  This church dates back
to 1897 according to the newspaper...was a true community church at one time with
different Protestant ministers taking turns doing the services and all from the community
attending...In the forties it became strictly a Baptist Church, and then was not used
starting sometime in the 70's.
I like the old faded sign and the window above the door!
The old faded red paint is neat too...as is the old door knob and the hook.....
Old cistern laying by the building...
The privy still stands down at the edge of the woods...
I was amazed to see it still had the old "school house" lights on the long chains!
A total of six light fixtures...
There was only one broken window..
Weathered and worn...
The bell was still in place, even the chain was still attached!
Seems a shame it will be gone.

Tuesday Randoms

Another fun surprise I saw in the garage yesterday! A brand new pair of boots!
I have to admit, I haven't yet taken the time to read the Muck Boot story, but
I am sure it is highly interesting!
Jack looking awesome on some chairs Richard brought home....
Nice deer we saw on our back hillside Sunday afternoon....
Wonder if he saw me take this? It was pretty cold that morning..
Sometimes there just aren't any words.....
Oh, what the heck......nothing says Christmas like a "stuffed" animal and a bottle of wine! haha!
