Things that Fly

One of our hummingbird feeders is being overtaken by bees! They drink almost the whole feeder in one day!

Big moth I found on my "river clothes" this morning

Butterfly taken this afternoon by the Mae House

Bird taken this afternoon on the garden fence

Have a good weekend, we'll all be hoping for some cooler weather!

Birds on the River

Went to the river again last night for a swim and saw a Bald Eagle fly over us from upriver. It flew on down the river. We also saw a flock of turkeys fly across the river. Pretty neat sight to see, but of course I don't have any pictures since I was in the water! The water was sure a nice temperature and it was a good place to be. I am thinking some more river time is in order for the weekend!

Gifts and another explosion

Here are some of the gifts our daughter and her family gave us for our anniv....cute bobber salt and peppers for the cabin....and neat sign for the cabin.... This neat bench....I plan on "decorating" it for at least some of the seasons...would be cute to put some stuffed animals on...or potted plants, etc. They also gave us a neat card caddy/organizer with 30 greeting cards in it!

Today's explosion on the back deck.......Three Mr/Mrs Potato Heads and their parts....once again out of the dungeon, into the pine-sol water, rinsed then dried in the blazing sun! I hope Tyler will have fun with these!

I am thankful for the past thirty years with my husband...he is for sure a keeper!

Sunday

Little Tyler on Sunday evening. We got together to celebrate our 30th Anniv. Little spider...taken in the flower bed right by our garage.

Taken on the road to the ramp at the cabin...looks like some kind of burr that will stick to your clothes.

Also on that same road....thimbleweed

Same road...taken in the blazing sun and it was HOT

Had another swimming trip to the river last night...it was a good place to be!

Time at the River

Blackberry Lillies....these were at the top of the hill coming out of the cabin...they are really oranger than this, may take some more pictures next time...and will take more when they got to seed to show why they are named what they are. The river from the cabin....water is low and warm....just right!

"the rock" We used to always look at this rock to gauge the level of the river....it's perfect for sitting on now.

Twisted vines on a tree near our steps to the river.

From up towards the "old" cabin

Another hot and steamy week here.....maybe another trip to the river is in order!

The return of Mr. Clippy

We got to enjoy the return of Mr. Clippy at church today! Not a good thing, but it wasn't quite as annoying this time. I was a little farther away from him this time so maybe that's why! Anyway, all in right in the world now that Mr. Clippy has returned!

More Random Stuff

Lego and magnetic letter explosion! Finally got around to getting these out of the dungeon so Tyler could play with them. They smelled a bit musty so I used some pine-sol water and the sun to clean them up...some didn't get in the picture, but it gives you an idea! The other day while I was on the computer I kept looking around the room and everytime I glanced at the couch this reminded me of our old cat, Tippy. She used to lay in that spot and it just looked like her from a distance. It's actually Tyler's stuffed elephant.

Our first produce from our garden! We got our garden in late due to weather and time factors, but sure enjoy what we grow!

Friends? Molly is very good to tolerate Jack.

Will be another super-hot day here.....I am thinking maybe an escape to the river sometime today is in order!

random yard stuff

A black butterfly/moth? that visited our house last Saturday.

Roses in front of the bay window

Praying Mantis taken about a week ago in the Mae Yard.

Have been out this morning doing some things before it gets too hot. Will sure be glad when this heat breaks.

Our Sunshine

We have gone through a pretty rough week and this little guy is helping us through it... The shopping cart that has been in dungeon storage since his mom and aunt played with it!

Funny little guy...was interested in the lens.

Such a sweet and good boy.

oops a little fuzzy!

Wednesday night over near the garden....he carried Ellie all over the place! His Mom is involved in the Vacation Bible School at our church so we have had extra Tyler Time this week....which is a good thing because we sure needed the diversion....He can make anyone smile! Even when it's 100 degrees!

Jack and things that crawl

Jack way up in a Pin Oak tree demonstrating his tree climbing abilities.
Taken Wednesday evening on the deck at the cabin.

This thing could crawl/move pretty fast.....taken on the East side of the Mae House.

Maybe I will look up the names of these later!

Trip to the River

Pictures taken from the ramp to the cabin. Not sure what the name of this plant is.....maybe I will look it up tomorrow!

Don't know why purple flowers are showing as blue.....this is the third different flower that is actually a pale purple but shows more blue in my pictures??

Trees with alot of roots exposed...kind of sad/scary when a person thinks about all the erosion..

Log balanced/stuck in two trees from a flood.

St. Louis Trip

My husband took me on a trip to St. Louis for my birthday......went to a Cardinals game...complete with two rain delays! It was ok though because we were sitting in the Champions Club, so we were indoors in the air conditioning. The Champions Club was nice....lovely buffet and views of the field...In addition to the huge buffet they also serve endless drinks up there...which to me is a recipe for people to get very drunk! Anyway, it was all set up real nice.
Barges going down the Father of the Waters.....taken from the Arch grounds.

Inside the Old Courthouse....looking up at the rotunda...

I guess no trip to St. Louis would be complete without taking some pictures of the Arch.......This picture was taken from the steps of the Old Courthouse. Yeah, maybe I should have moved a step to the left! Ha!

We also went to the Museum under the Arch....very nice....We went to this the second day. Later on that morning we ate at an Italian restaurant on the Hill....

There were rabbits in that flower bed but they kept hiding so I couldn't take a picture!

We had a good time on the trip and finished the weekend up with some river time and a fish fry with our daughters, their husbands and the grandson. Was such a pleasant evening and a great way to end the weekend!

Lone Elk Park

As part of our trip to St. Louis we drove through Lone Elk Park, which I believe is managed by St. Louis County. There is also some sort of bird sanctuary there, but we didn't go explore that part this time. We did drive through the rest of the park. We didn't see any elk, but we did see a group of buffalo.

So, we drove through and saw these buffalo....and one squirrel. Will likely do this again sometime and maybe see some more animals next time!
