One Day Last Week

Remember that wonderful weather we had last week? One day Richard and I went to the river for a relaxing day of boating and floating...we had lunch on the river bank...

Lots of sand up on what we call Johnson Island...Not sure what people these days call it, or if they are even aware it's an island. It is by what we call Terry Chutes, which by the way people on the other side of the river called Allen Chutes back in the day.

Big spider near some driftwood.

Neat rocks we found...the item in front is the top of an old soda bottle that has been smoothed by being in the water

We picked this up against a drift up in Henderson Eddy....it was partially inflated, but other parts were too damaged to be repaired, so loaded it up to throw it away.
See the eagle in the tree? this is at Thox Rock..

Here it is!

Thox Rock
It was such a beautiful fall-like day! We had a good time!

Time at the Cabin

We spent quite a bit of time at the cabin this weekend...it was a good place to be! Here is a butterfly/moth that had lived it's life..

This little fellow crawled all over the bench for a long time.

cicada....also had spent it's last day

Our neighbors have quite the sense of humor!

I like these strings of lights they put up...fishing lures and bobbers!

Saw this float by on Saturday...looked like maybe four people in it.

More of the neighbors fun stuff!

I need to get a better picture of these..blackberry lily seeds...
Had a good time down there this weekend!

Emily and the Playground

Last Tuesday morning Sarah and I took advantage of the beautiful weather we have been having and took Emily and the twins to the playground at the park....It was a lot of fun! She loved the swing and kept wanting to go higher...I believe she is going to be a daredevil!

She liked the merry-go-round also..

some of this is the same equipment her Mom played on as a child!

She wasn't real sure about this slide the first time or two....after that she did it over and over again...we finally had to make her stop so we could go.

After the park we went to the store to get some lunch and I stayed in the car with the kids..

It sure was a fun morning! Not sure why I didn't take any pictures of the twins....I guess it was because they were sleeping most of the time...Hope to do this again sometime!

Friday Randoms

My aunt and uncle got these for Richard and I as a way of saying thanks for letting them use the cabin/boat. These are so nice and work really good! I think we'll get a lot of use out of them!
How many tree trimmers does it take to hold a sign?  Three! And this took about an hour! Ha!

Our old recliners saying goodbye! I miss my old friend!

Thursday Randoms

I have been trying to clean off all of my camera cards, so if these have already been on here, just ignore them!  Molly and Jack being friends earlier this Summer..

Neat Ladies' hankie I found in a cedar chest downstairs..

I don't know who made it/where it came from, but the handwork on it is so nice!

such detail!

Pinkie! A dog I played with ALOT when I was a kid!

Nature Pictures

We have had some pretty cool nights here lately. I saw this box turtle burrowed in the leaves one afternoon..later I went back and he was even further under the leaves..next afternoon he was gone, so I figured he was just looking for a warmer place to spend the night.
Richard brought me up this bird nest of the yardlight to the basement. Every year Flycatchers build a nest on top of that light..Pretty neat to watch them raise their babies...although they do leave a bit of a mess on the concrete!

Ha Ha Tonka

We went over to Ha Ha Tonka on Sunday. It was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect for an outing...this is the Spring located in the park..

Water heading towards the Lake of the Ozarks.
Old Mill wheel.

Pretty scenery along the trail.

We saw a few of these, which I was not familiar with....I tried looking it up, and I think it may be the seeds of a Jack-in-the- Pulpit plant.

Looking up at part of the ruins.

The spring again....I think the sign says this is Missouri's 12th largest spring.

Lots of this near the spring. If I wasn't so unmotivated I would get up and get my wildflower book to see what this is....I am going to guess it's some sort of jewelweed.

Haha this was the end of the trail for me! No thanks!

Natural bridge on a different trail.

I saw this snag on our way back from the natural bridge...I thought it looked like a gator...use your imagination! ha!

Tiny fungi....about an inch high.
It was a pleasant day...We ate dinner at Outback (since I had never been there) Then headed home..stopped at Matt and Sarah's on the way home and had a short, but good visit with them and the grandkids!
