End Of April

Bridesmaid Gown or Granny's Nightgown?

Haha found these in the cedar chest!  Two bridesmaid dresses from weddings I was in  in the 80's! Ha!  I am thinking they look more like Granny's Nightgown!  Need to disperse of these somehow....the lace on them is pretty.....well....Halloween is coming up!

Viola

Before our Florida trip, Richard had taken a gallon of wild mushrooms to our friend, Viola. She is an older lady and we like to bring her things like that, garden produce, etc.  and look what she brought us! a pan of home made cinnamon rolls! and they were still a bit warm!

and a wonderful apple pie she had made! it was still hot!

Pretty sure we got the better end of that deal!

A Fun Visit!

We enjoyed a nice visit from my Mom the last two weeks! Wish I would have taken more pictures! Gary, a good friend stopped by for a nice visit....was fun listening to the stories of good times and getting caught up.

We went to see another friend's new place and took a picture of the old place.....sooo interesting! Had a good visit there also....such a peaceful place.

Traveled North some to visit two more friends..sock monkey came along, see him? Isn't their fall display so special?  

monkey and his new friends!  We had a wonderful lunch and some great visiting before we headed home . Mom stayed there and they brought her home another day.

We cooked quite a bit more than usual while she was here...had different people for dinner different nghts/days. These are the twice baked potatoes we had on our steak lunch day.

Back in town again!

Jack always heads for this little green jar...I keep it on the bottom of that table behind them....the cat food is also right behind them....he decided it would be fun to fill the jar with cat food a couple times..he carries it around and is so proud of it.

I had Mom sit in the front on the way to the airport so she could see the scenery better....sock monkey was looking too...We sure enjoyed having her here..the days passed too fast!

After our good-byes at the airport, we went to the local Conservation Nature Center....MDC always does things up right and it was a neat place. Walking to the car afterwards I spotted an SUV with Nebraska plates...It was bought in McCook, near where my relatives live! Small world!

We ate dinner in Lebannon at this place.....the fish was very good....BBQ was average, but the fish would make it worth stopping there again.

Has been quiet around here since she left....We will look forward to her next visit!

Thursday Road Trip

Yesterday we headed out on another adventure! We went to see two great friends of ours and had a nice visit in their lovely home...then we all went out to lunch. We had lunch at his place..

We went to see the world's largest pecan! Sock monkey was impressed!

We took our time and read the sign..

They even had pecan leaves imprinted on the concrete there..pretty neat!

After that we traveled farther north and visited this huge goose..

It was so big sock monkey was almost scared!

I understand they built this in Kansas City and then flew it there by helicopter.......wouldn't that have been something to see!

Even the restroom had a goose on it!

This was a table full of things for kids to explore..good assortment of things.

Sock Monkey wasn't too sure about this....

We had a wonderful day and was so good to catch up with our friends!

Thanksgiving Week

Here are some vintage turkey candles I brought up from the dungeon....

They are Gurley candles..the writer of one blog I read goes crazy for Gurley candles.......When my Mom gave me these there was also an Indian boy and girl and a Pilgrim boy and girl...Can't find them now....must be in the dungeon somewhere. Surely I didn't burn them!

old turkey on the left...a blue turkey actually! I bought the one on the right this year at the Dollar Tree as a joke for Sarah, since she doesn't like them...Wow, it is much more elaborate than the old one! And yes, it only cost me a dollar!

My good friend gave me this..no, not Thanksgiving, but isn't it grand? love stuff like this!

Two small turkey candles.........they were glad to see the light of day! They get to come out of hiding in the dungeon every November!

Alaskan Salmon

We had this for lunch a week ago...wild caught salmon from Alaska! The guy Richard works with had been to Alaska to do some fishing and he shared some of his bounty with us.....the salmon, along with a baked potato, steamed broccoli and fresh yellow bell peppers made for a great lunch!

Our First Stop

The first stop on our trip was to visit some very dear friends.....Their house is just wonderful...they have done so much work to restore it and make it just great! Both of them are so talented with doing things like decorating and so on ....... I just loved their porch....and her decorating is just my style....It seems whatever they both do everything always looks just right.....like in a magazine!

Love the lawn chairs and the pumpkins, flowers, just all of it!

It was soo nice to visit these people! Just wish we could have stayed longer.....Next time we will plan it so we can visit longer! AND they treated us to breakfast at a little local restaurant! Wish I could decorate like them and have everything look so cool!!! It was a super good way to start our trip!
