Building a House

This isn't my story...our daughter and her husband get credit for this project...but I am enjoying watching the process!  I took this picture Tuesday night I think...sunset through the west window....Wish I would have gotten a bit closer....pretty view framed by a window...
Tyler had left his little toy tractors on the sill of what will be one of his bedroom windows...I thought it was so sweet how he left his little tractors there..
Monday they put the walls up.....then Tuesday they did most of the interior walls...

Trusses went up on Wednesday..
Thursday the roof went on...after I took this they also put on the layer that goes below the shingles...They also delivered the shingles and Friday morning those will go on.....
Sure has been a week of change! It will be fun to watch the house come together!

Passion Vine and Sea Shells

I visited a house in the country earlier this week....I saw this vine going all over the place at a homeplace...I was not familiar with this plant, so I went home and looked it up. I believe it is called a Passion Flower/Vine...Anyone know if this is correct?  Interesting bloom, for sure!
These fruits? seedpods? were hanging on the vine...
Inside of the seedpod/fruit...
Figured since it's nearly Labor Day I will be taking down my front table decorations in a week or so....I have enjoyed looking at these sea shells all Summer....and I love the sign I got for my birthday!
Tiny sea horse.....really like this one!

Streets and Fall Stuff

Here are the gourds/pumpkins I have picked so far this week...Don't think I will have to buy any for our fall display this year!
Some of the streets around town are getting milled and repaved this week...A temporary change to the traffic flow patterns....Here is Mr. Bobcat Man by the Lemco bulding earlier this week...
Several streets are blocked off...making access to the courthouse, post office, etc. difficult...
Pretty smart to wait until after school started to do this! They are also doing the street in front of the Catholic School.....Makes it so many more people get to view all the work! ha!

Wildflower Wednesday

Pretty little flower I spotted between our cabin and our neighbor's cabin one day last week. I looked this flower up and I think it's name is Dayflower. It only blooms for one day....I thought it was real pretty!

Last Week's Pictures

We spent a few nights at the cabin last week....I took this picture early one morning...It was so quiet!
Spider web by the river bank.
It's the time of year for these guys...this was taken on our back deck..
Frog sitting on the deck at the cabin late one afternoon....Not sure why it was there because it was like 100 in the shade!

Mute Monday

Not Quite Wordless Wednesday

Remnant of a Button Bush flower down by the river...
Sunflower being "born"  Wish I would have backed up just a bit! Dang!
Tyler and Richard spotted this on "Emily's Tree" ( a Tulip Poplar we planted in the Mae yard last year..the year she was born)  I looked it up in my Butterfly/Moth book and it turns into a really pretty butterfly!

Emily's Birthday

We had the best time on Sunday celebrating Emily's First Birthday!  I didn't get many good pictures.....the kids were just moving too fast! Ha!  Here she is getting ready to start on a present..
She loved playing with the leaves!
Group picture of the kids...what a nice bunch!
Not sure what the think of the cake..
Now she decided she wanted it! Love that little smile!
The flowers we bought for the altar at church on Sunday....In honor of Emily's First Birthday!
It was such an awesome day!

Saturday Stuff

I should have looked the name of this wildflower up..it was growing by the stairs to the river...I thought it was jewelweed at first, but I thought jewelweed was orange..?
Busy bees in the garden one day this week....and on a different sort of sunflower..
I think their wings are just amazing!
****I looked up the wildflower! It is indeed a type of jewelweed! There is more than one variety of jewelweed....This one is known as Pale Touch-Me-Not.....the one I was thinking of is more orange and is called Spotted Touch-Me-Not.  Both are used as a relief for stinging nettles....and some use parts of the plant to relieve poison ivy! There......that is your wildflower lesson for today!

Tuesday Photo Dump

Tyler and Emily having fun sitting on an old school desk...
I bought these last year at our church's ladies group yard sale....They are made of metal....I took two to the river and have four here in town.
Last week Richard helped cook for the Lion's Club monthly meeting. They also had chicken and about every Summertime side you can think of!
Sunflower that volunteered where we have zinnias planted by our garage.
Nature is truly amazing!
Emily heading into the forbidden zone on Saturday morning!
She is so sweet!
Malinda and Tyler watching the river the evening after the poker run...water looks a little murky from all the boat traffic.
We had visitors at the cabin last weekend! My aunt and uncle from Nebraska and my cousin and his son from Oklahoma.  We had a fish fry Saturday evening and was sure neat to get to visit with them!

Tomato Overload

Last weekend I went over to pick some tomatoes and caught this guy having breakfast!
Part of last weekend's crop....picked a bunch more a couple days later and "gifted" some people in town with tomatoes! I also made some very good salsa.
Rather a messy eater! Ha!
