Route 66 State Park Visitor Center

We went to St. Louis Sunday for a family reunion....I made this White Texas Sheet Cake to bring along!

on the way home we stopped at a visitor center....it was nice and maybe next time we'll take our time and read more of the displays...Have not heard of this Rolla hotel before..

Although we didn't travel on Route 66 on all those trips we made to South Central Nebraska when I was growing up, this display sure reminded me of those trips!

Garden Progress

I took pictures of the garden the last three Sunday mornings....you can sure see the progress....first one you can see the tomato plants, but nothing else has come up yet.

Big leaves of a plant over behind the mae house..these things are huge, look even bigger in person!

Richard was cleaning out the gutters just now and came across this huge beetle! It was very much alive and very fast!  here it is next to a nickel.

better picture of it.....we left it alone after this picture....it is scurrying around out there somewhere!

In all the commotion of working on a ladder and chasing that beetle around Jack didn't wake up from this sleeping spot in the pampas grass....he has found a good place to nap!

More River Time

Here is Richard's sandbox project at the river..we got the boards from Matt and Sarah..he just shortened them a bit.

I think the kids will have fun in it....we'll need to finish it and get some sand...Yes, the river is muddy in the background. Hope we don't get too much rain this week!

Saw this viney plant between us and our neighbor....Wish I knew the name of it!
