End of the Growing Season

The leaves this Fall have been ok, not the best, but some are always pretty...

We had our first hard freeze last night....I came across this Katydid this morning....

This plant was pretty this Summer...and I like the pot Sarah made with the kids' handprints..

Right in front of the garage...the petunias mostly survived, the the Moss Rose did not!
It is always a bit sad to see the growing things get bit by the frost, but will sure be looking forward to another round of flowers next year!

Freaky Friday

Found this huge black snake skin in the Mae Yard the other day....looks to be six feet long! and fairly big around too.  We had both been right through this area a couple times not long before I found this so we barely missed the snake itself. The skin was still moist!

creepy eye sockets!

took this picture the next day of it's open mouth. I know black snakes are the farmer's friend...just hope I don't come across it...this was a big snake!

Sunday near Hayden

We took a drive on Sunday out towards Hayden.  We came across an area with a high fence and some non-native animals!  Pretty neat!

Elk in Maries County!

Oops!  ran out of county road here!
We had a nice time....good day for a drive!

Day with the Kids

We took care of the three youngest kids for a good part of Friday so Sarah could go with Tyler on his field trip! We had a really good day! Not one fuss or fight of any kind. Here they are playing with the Fisher-Price Little People that our girls had....Sarah has a few at her house too. They enjoyed these a lot.

Sure was a fun day and glad we were able to spend some extra time with them!

Charlotte's Friday Night

Charlotte was very busy last night! She made her third egg sack! I didn't see it (or her) at first, but then I spotted them in the zinnia plants!

She is working so hard securing it safely.

She is still out there working on it....I will take  a picture when she gets done.  Only thing is, I will pull these plants after the first frost....but, I will take the handful this is in and arrange them somewhere so it will hopefully survive the Winter and they can hatch out next Spring.

I am thinking this will be Charlotte's last egg sack....it's number three, so she has worked hard.  I have sure enjoyed watching her..and when Sarah stopped by this morning with the kids they were excited to see it...

I will miss going out to check on her, hopefully next year I will be able to located another one to watch!

Antique Mall Find

The other day we went for a little outing to a local antique mall. We spent one and a half hours walking through the entire place....We ended up spending one entire dollar! Ha!  I picked out a little bag that had these two bunnies in it, which I thought I could use for my Easter display. The two little mice I don't really care for, but maybe I will find a spot somewhere.  It was a nice way to spend an afternoon!

Random Things

I found this very hungry caterpillar look-alike when I was looking for grasshoppers to feed Charlotte....isn't it awesome?

Found this turtle shell at the boat ramp the other day....it even still had it's "bottom" on it!

Random Pictures

These are the last pictures from our trip...I took this picture of the water tower because it reminded me of Holbrook's!

I believe this was in Hot Springs

We stopped at this one rest stop and stick bugs were everywhere on the building!  like every three inches there would be a stick bug!

I like the rock cut to the shape of Arkansas!

The picture doesn't really show it, but this building was entirely covered with rocks!
