Taken on the rocks in front of our house last weekend...
Such a pretty color! Today's heat/sun/wind did it in....

Freaky Friday

Picture taken at the rocky area by the river in front of the cabin....the round item by the spider that looks like a rock is actually an egg sack....the spider was dragging it around..I suppose to get away from us!

Sunshine in the Winter

These are going to be so good this Winter! Will be like a bit of Summer sunshine! Fourteen bags went into the freezer!

A Wagonload

Just got through picking these....and there are more over in the garden...I think in the future I shall be more careful/specific about what/how much I would like planted in the garden! Ha!

Sunday Fun

Everyday I walk by these in the yard and eat any that are ripe....they are so good!
Fun float that went by the cabin Saturday evening...
We took the boat out today...Sarah and Tyler went too...we took a nice boat ride and the first place we stopped had quite a bit of sand...Lots of animal tracks there....we saw deer tracks and some of these..
Tyler playing with his boats...I think he had a good time!
Later we went down the river and we all went swimming...we were surprised at how warm the water already was....usually I don't swim until closer to July 4!
Pretty cloud formation after we got back to town..
We had a pleasant day out enjoying the river!

First Day of Summer

We had a good day on the Summer Solstice...longest day of the year! While touring the yard this morning, I saw the Catalpa Worms.....ate some of those raspberries growing in the Mae yard (they are soo good!), and took a tour of the garden....Here is a baby Summer Squash..I ended up picking a half dozen of those...
In the corner of the garden, there is an area of volunteer gourds, pumpkins, etc. They sprouted up from where we dumped our Fall decorations last year. I don't think anyone told them that we don't need them ready in July! Ha!
Perhaps my favorite garden item to look forward to!
Green beans are about ready!
We made a couple trips out here on Saturday....the first was around noon with Sarah and the kids...spent a couple of hours playing in the water/sand in front of the cabin in the shade....It was a good time and Tyler is loving the water! And Emily really likes it too...After we came home for a couple of hours Richard and I went back out and had a campfire and roasted hot dogs...brought the dog along too. around 8 a band of showers moved in, so we headed back to town...all in all a pretty good day!

Tuesday Photo Dump

I took the picture of these deer Saturday night from the cabin deck..We were taking a break from our work and saw these deer come out for a drink across the river..They slowly made their way upriver.
Cute Mother's Day gift from Sarah's family....two handprints were Emily's and two were Tyler's...So cute..I think I should use this for my library tote!
Picture I took this morning of a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers...up in a dead branch in the Mae yard..
We kept the kids today since their caregiver was off....We had such a good day...and it just went by so fast!
Richard gave them wagon rides this morning before it got hot...they loved it!
Malinda found this little guy on the walking trail this morning and brought it down for Tyler to see...Cute little thing, just over an inch long. Later we let it go down in the creek..
Jack and his new look...When we got back from Florida he had developed a problem with his ear....We took him to the vet, who did some surgery I guess you could say....He looks different now, but it doesn't seem to bother him.
Sure was a fun day with the kids...and enjoyed our visits with both of our daughters too!

A Few Pictures

Just a few pictures this evening...berries growing near the Mae fence...
We've had quite a bit of rain lately, which has helped the growth of things like this....these are right by our sidewalk and have actually maybe gotten a little bigger since I took this picture..
pure white...
Cardinal on the far garden fence..
Pure white moth!
Flowers getting ready to bloom....

Tuesday Randoms

The spot where our garden is is next to house that was built in the early 1900's and often times we'll find pieces of various pottery, dishes, crockery, etc in the garden. I would love to see the rest of this remnant...The little horse looks so cute.....wonder what the history was of this piece!
Attached to the outside wall of the cabin....has been for a few days..
Pretty Black-Eyed Susans along the road at the river...
Along our East retaining wall....glad we never got around to weed-eating there!
New floor at the cabin....actually doesn't seem to have that much brown in it in person....
