The Aftermath

We made our way down to the cabins this afternoon....The river is still out of it's banks, but on the other side of the river...we parked at the top and walked in.  This is looking off of our neighbor's yard....big log in the river...his propane grill knocked upside down and the water dug a big hole...note the hummingbird feeder that survived though!

Pump and well house are a mess

ah yes, a flamingo survived! i didn't see the other one though...this one was stuck in the ground....you would think it have floated up and been gone..

Some mud, but could have been worse....we were relieved to see the deck was still there....

and our "save the sand box and sand" idea worked!

Lots of mud in here....kind of wish I would have studied on those designs in the mud..but may be better off not knowing what made them...Ha!  you can see the bed....soaked...most of the things we put on top of this bed were ok though.

some of the foam boards we put over the windows during the Winter were broken..

The inside room was a disaster! The refrigerator have tipped over...and the bunk bed had started to float around.

So some of the things we had on top of the bunk bed ended up falling off...see the microwave? it was on top of the refrigerator....not sure if it floated over there or flew/bounced over there when the fridge fell...behind this area was a big array of kitchen utensils,etc..the contents of two kitchen drawers...

top of bunk bed got wet so out went the pillows/mattresses..

There was a pen stuck in the screen door...guess it got stuck there when floating....I saw a clothespin in the kitchen standing perfectly upright on it's end too...and some other weird and funny things.

It was clear over the stove..and see that art desk? it had been across the room! 

We got a lot of things cleared out in preparation to squeege out the mud

and there is a lot of mud...

mud line on the door of the old cabin...we took the plastic yard furniture out of here and  a few other things....like another bed....will work more in it next time too

and I got pretty muddy! ha!

Wildflower Wednesday

not a flower, but wild! ha! I saw a few of these walking down the road to the cabin area....I am thinking maybe the heavy rains knocked them out of the trees?

Day Four

These pictures are actually from yesterday....it had already dropped maybe three feet? 

This was taken on the road by the first group of cabins..

back down some..iris still on gas tank thing....the stick on the porch railing I picked up off the ground and put there on Sunday..I am guessing the water didn't get too far from it. There was a gas tank there, maybe someone picked it up..

Heavy rain today, so probably won't be going down there.....it has dropped quite a bit, but with the rain may rise some later....anxious to get down to the cabins to check them out.  I thought the plastic lawn furniture was gone, but actually on Sunday he went ahead and put it inside the old cabin..

Day Three

We went back to the river this morning...Richard took these pictures when we went down over the bluff....it had come up some more after we had been there yesterday and had started going down....figured it might have gotten just over five feet deep in there, although we won't really know until we get in there.

Still no deck showing..

the steps are also gone....never thought we would need to anchor those down.

Got pretty high in the neighbor's place.

Sure hoping we don't get as much rain tomorrow as they say we might...

Day Two

Richard went down over the bluff this afternoon and took pictures of the cabin...

We are figuring the water is probably at least four foot deep in it.

Even the old cabin was not spared this time...
