Monday's Pictures
Three random pictures from yesterday....A spider capturing a bug on the zinnias...I kept messing with them trying to get a better picture and eventually the spider dropped the bug..
Tyler was here for a while for a visit...he and Gpa played outside some and when he left I found these acorns on the floor....am sure he had them in his pocket....made me think of all the neat items his mom is going to find in his pockets over the years! Little boys are so special! (so are little girls!)
This is what the "bird poop fungus" from the other day turned into! Weird!
We are having a good day today....getting ready for our Florida visitors!Sunday, October 13, 2013
Saturday Afternoon in the Mae Woods
Richard went down to the Mae Woods Saturday to do stuff with firewood, so I went along to do a bit of exploring....this neat root would make a good seat for kids to play on!
Dry creekbed...with rock ledges..
This tree engulfed this steel cable...
The creek had other ideas for this cable crossing or whatever it was supposed to be.
Some of our walnut trees are really loaded!
The smell of these walnuts sure brought back memories from when I was a kid and we used to pick these up.....I remember too some kids at school having their fingers stained black from picking up walnuts...
A squirrel watching me watching him...Ha!
He is up high in this tree...if you look carefully you can see him!
seed pods..
Last time I was down there these were really blooming...they are almost "done" now...I looked up their name last year, but can't remember it right now....and I am too unmotivated to go get the book and look it up!
fungus on the seed pod tree..
Don't know the name of this one either...
Cockelbur sp? ripening..
Not sure what this tree was...It had a couple berries on it that had turned red...
Sunshine through the pretty leaves.
It was a nice day to be outside!

Totally Random Items
I have been into cloth napkins here lately....I was switching out the Summer colors for the Fall colors today and decided to take a picture...Some of these were given to me, some I bought at our church's yard sales. I like using them and don't mind washing them and hanging them on the line...Hanging things on the line are one of my favorite activities! Yes, it really is! ha!
Our town recently had some city-wide yard sales...other than buying some clothes for the Grandkids, I didn't buy much...I did find this pair of red glass salt/pepper shakers. I plan to put them in the window this Winter for a touch of color...
Oh, sure didn't need these items, but you know how that goes! Two Frankoma pitchers...those will look nice with some pampas grass or dried grasses in them....and the other items appears to maybe be a candy dish...made of glass and what appears to be hammered aluminum.
Seasonal display on the front table..the larger ghost I also bought at a yard sale for a dime!
Bar of silver...when we bought the Mae house we were nosing around one day and I pulled a newspaper off a closet shelf to see what date the paper was from....much to my surprise out fell this bar of silver! We were majorly surprised! Too bad we never found any more!
And in keeping with the theme of totally random items...here is an old hard plastic toy dog from the dungeon....he looks very stern!

An Afternoon on the River
We took the boat out yesterday afternoon and enjoyed some time on the water....Sock Monkey came along for the ride...You can see the 63 bridge in the background....you can also see how clear the water is...
Sock Monkey.....either getting his tan on....or scaring turtles away! Ha!
We noticed a "hole" in the vegetation on this bank....result of the flood...
Box turtle swimming across the river below Spring Creek....
Another picture that shows how clear the water was....
We saw a couple Bald Eagles.....a flock of turkeys fly across the river.....two deer run parallel to the bank....lots of fish in the clear water...and no other people. It was a nice place to be!

Sunday Randoms
I have a stack of these and need to figure out a project to use them on....I think old license plates are pretty cool....Need to check out some ideas on Pinterest!
Growing out of a stump by our house.
When I first saw this I first thought it was a big weird piece of bird poop! haha! Then I realized it was some sort of fungus....looks strange!
Jack looking.........uh, smart? haha! He likes to follow me around when I walk around the yard...
Grapevine...should harvest this and make a wreath...or invert a tomato cage and make a Christmas tree!
We stopped at Rockwoods Conservation Area on our way home from a family reunion in St. Louis..This is a Lime Kiln...built before the Civil War! Pretty neat!
Brickwork on the kiln...
Creek at Paydown Mill....Pretty place!
