Would it not have been possible to leave the tower up as a landmark since, after all, it had the name of the town on it? I guess it would have taken maintenance?
From what I understand, a lot of little towns just leave them up...seems it's cheaper just to paint them every now and then than to take them down....Wish they would have left it....
