Sunday-Southern Boone County

Sunday after lunch we took a road trip up to Southern Boone County...saw this in Hartsburg....
Interesting window decorations!
Some of the county roads were still partially snow/ice covered
We saw a few neat old barns...this one had wooden shingles peeking out from under the tin roof.
Missouri River
Boats stuck in the ground like posts or something....Wonder what the story is behind these!
McBaine Burr Oak tree....this tree is huge! Bigger than the picture shows....it supposedly has a facebook page!
A parting shot of the Burr Oak tree...
It was a fun afternoon!

My memories of growing up were going on Sunday drives. And for a drink, we always had a soda bottle in the car and would come across a spring to get a drink. Thanks for your story, brought back memories of my own childhood.
(Can you see kids today getting a drink out of a spring?)

We took a lot of Sunday drives when we were growing up too! And no, don't think kids now-a-days would drink from a Spring...and they would probably be playing on their phones/tablets the whole time too! Glad you enjoyed...

I enjoyed your blog and oh boy, what great pix! I esp. liked the one of the barn out in the field (the one not torn up). What a neat picture. You can see the snow in these but add about another 6 to 8 inches that we just got rid of this week. What a winter! That oak tree -- is it the one outside Columbia? There's one that is the largest, oldest one in the U.S. I think it was on the cover of the Conservationist one time K
